Daniel D. Cohen, MD

Dr. Cohen was born and raised in Montreal, Canada. He received his MD from McGill University School of Medicine in Montreal in 1997. He completed his internship in General Surgery, followed by his residency training in Urology, at McGill University Health Center in 2002. Subsequently, Dr. Cohen was awarded a prestigious postgraduate fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the world renowned M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Cohen is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Central Florida (UCF) College of Medicine. Dr. Cohen is an active member of the prestigious Society of Urologic Oncology. Dr. Cohen is a Urologic Oncologist within the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute and he is a member of the multidisciplinary genitourinary tumor board. His patients are enrolled in the most current clinical trials available. He utilizes specific techniques to preserve continence and potency and avoid time away from work and family, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy, brachytherapy (seeds) and targeted cryotherapy (freezing).

Dr. Cohen practices all aspects of adult urology, including laparoscopic and minimally-invasive surgery and nerve-sparing prostatectomy. His advanced surgical techniques for the treatment of bladder and kidney cancer include cryotherapy, laparoscopic and energy-ablative non-invasive treatments. He is also proficient in the treatment of benign prostate enlargement (microwave thermotherapy, greenlight laser, bipolar vaporization technology), kidney stones (shock-wave lithotripsy, holmium-laser), urinary tract infections, hematuria evaluation, “no scalpel vasectomy”, erectile dysfunction, low testosterone, male infertility, and urinary incontinence. He is currently treating women with mesh complications, who travel in from throughout the country for his care.

Dr. Cohen’s office is the first in the community to offer magnetic chair therapy for pelvic floor disorders and incontinence. Additionally, he is one of the small handful of urologists in Central Florida to offer in-office conscious sedation for simpler procedures, thus saving his patients pain and discomfort, as well as, time and money by avoiding hospitals or surgical centers.

Dr. Cohen believes that the hallmark of good medicine is the development of a strong doctor-patient relationship based on trust and understanding. He will strive to deliver the highest quality of urologic care in a conscientious an diligent manner to all of his patients.
